![]() Julidochromis transcriptus, Matthes, 1959 Origin: Lake Tanganjika Etymology: Unk Synonyms: None First European import:Unk/1964 Description: See picture Care: The fish require a medium sized tank, 80 cm, which should be well filtered. Lots of stones, especially in the back of the tank, to create holes for Julidochromis transcriptus to hide in, a sandy soil and some plants. Keep the fish in (medium)hard alkaline water. Temperature: 22-25 degrees Feeding: omnivorous, all food is taken. Size: Up to 7 cm pH: 8.0-9.5 Breeding: Easy, cave spawner. Only a few eggs are laid each spawn, up to 30. The fry can be left with the parents until they start to leave the territorium. After that remove the parents from the beeding tank, and raise the fry separately.
