Etymology: Unk Synonyms:None First import:1951 Description:See pictures Care:Barbus schwanefeldi requires larger tanks. Juveniles grow really fast up to 20 cm, and since the fish can grow up to 35 cm a 120 cm tank should be considered the minimum. The fish are shoalfish, 3 or more fish should be kept together, and are only remotely suited for the community tank. Soft plants and smaller fish are eaten, and the fish dig in the soil for food. Waterconditions soft and slightly acidic well aged water, that should be filtered well since the fish pollute a lot, and like to swim against a current. Barbus schwanefeldi is a peacefull fish, that will swim slowly in the middle and lower regions of the tank. Temperature:22-25 degrees Feeding:Omnivorous. Size:Up to 35 cm pH: 6.0-7.0 Breeding:The fish has not yet been bred in aquaria.
