Botia lohachata
Botia lohachata, Chaudhuri, 1912

Origin:India; Bihar province, and Bangladesh.

Etymology: UnkBotia lohachata

Synonyms:None

First European import: Germany, 1956, by the firm Tropicarium

Description: See pictures.

Care: Botia lohachata prefers a sandy soil, and lots of hideouts under which the fish can hide. Tempered light and and decent filtration are also requiered. Like all botias the fish are sinsitive to pollution, and do not adapt well to sudden changes in waterquality, hence frequent small waterchanges should be carried out. The fish are mostly active in the evening and at night.

Temperature: 24-30 degrees.

Feeding: Omnivorous, should be fed in the evening.

Size: Up to 7 cm.

pH: 6.0-7.0

Breeding: Unk.

Sexual dimorphism: None

Prices: Netherlands: 4-5€

Additional: Very sensitive to medications, which will often kill Botia lohachata even if underdosed.
