Origin:Eastern Asia: Hainan Island, China. Here the fish occur is rivers and other flowing water.

Etymology: Unknown

Description: See picture

Care: Beaufortia leveretti is suitable to keep in aquaria, provided a strong current and oxygenrich water is present in the tank. Frequent waterchanges are required, since the fish easily contract diseases in polluted water. The fish are slightly territorial towards other fish of the same species, and often show territorial display towards eachother. Fighting never occurs though.

Feeding: Algae wafers, algae(?), miniature life, mosquito larvae and small worms.
