Epalzeorhynchus
kallopterus , Bleeker, 1850 Chinese algae eater, CAE Origin:
The fish are widespread, from India to Indonesia(Sumatra and Borneo). Here the

See pictures. The fish are very similar to Crossocheilus siamensis, but can easily
be distinguished from them, by the black stripe in the caudal fin. Other fins
of Epalzeorhynchus also show melanated areas, but these are sometimes not
visible in shops. Care: Suitable for the community tank, although the fish are slightly territorial when juvenile. Older fish are more territorial, and agressiv, also towards other fish. Epalzeorhynchus kallopterus requires some hideouts in the aquarium, and well planted regions in the back. Some current is appreciated. The fish are best kept in slightly acidic, soft water, combined with frequent waterchanges. Temperature: 24-26 °C Feeding: Omnivorous, Live, frozen and flake food. If fed well, the fish eat less algae! Size: Up to 15 cm. pH: 6.0-7.0 Breeding: Unknown. Sexual dimorphism:Unknown. Prices: Around 2-3 € Additional: Picture references:Pictures by E.
