Origin: Indonesia, on the island Borneo. Here the fish occur in flowing water, among which the Baleh river

Etymology: punctulatus(L.): spotted. Pseudogastromyzon cheni

Synonyms:None

First import: Unknown.

Description: See picture. There are many hard to determine Gastromyzon species, pistures of other species have been added to the page as well. All of them have similar behaviour and requirements. If you hover over a picture you'll see the (most likely) name of the species.

Care: All Gastromyzon species require clean water, low in pollution, and some current. Oxygen rich water is imperative.

Temperature:23-25 degrees.

Feeding: Tiny organisms which are found on the aquarium glas and on plats, usually in between algae. The fish do NOT eat algae!Gastromyzon sp.Gastromyzon ctenocephalus, Saddleback Hill-stream loach.

Size: Up to 5 cm(G. punctulatus)

pH: 6.5-7.5 Hardness: 7-9 dGH
