First European import: Unknown. A shipment arrived in the Netherlands in 2005.

Description: See pictures. Juveniles show the same color / pattern as females.

Care: Flowing water,

Temperature: 22-28 °C

Feeding: Algae, spirulina tablets, flakes, small live food.

Size: up to 8 cm

pH: 6.0-7.5

Breeding: Some Stiphodon species breed in freshwater, but the eggs/fry need brackish or saline water.

Sexual dimorphism: Male much more colorfull.

Prices: I bought these fish for 11€ a pair.
