Origin: North America, Cuba, Europe and Afrika, in coastal regions.

Additional: This plant usually grows badly in aquaria, and needs a lot of maintenance. Usually it will clog with dirt, or display really dense growth, causing the lower part of the plant to become brown. Frequently thinning the bushes is necessary.
