Origin:Brazil, lower Rio Xingu and Tocantins.
First European import: Unlnown.
Description: See picture, The distinctive pattern makes the fish easy to recognize. Some colorvariations exist, the fish in the picture is more brown/yellow, but some pictures can be found on the web(see Planet Catfish) of fish that are almost black/white.
Care: Keep the fish in well filtered tanks, with soft acidic water. A dark soil, lots of driftwood, a number of holes and not too much light.
Feeding: Flake, vegetables and algae.
Size: Up to 12 cm(?)

Sexual dimorphism: Male displays very strong interopercular odontodes.
Prices: Like most L-numbers expensive.
