Had the same thing happened to me, I found a nice piece of driftwood with a patch of pelia several months ago while on a field trip. We were by a black water stream looking for Parosphromenus Allani and Cryptocoryne Pallidernevia.

I placed that nice patch of pelia in my main planted tank at the foreground and it turned black within a few days. The lighting was too intense although the water was kept at 24C.

Hello Carlos,

Quote:
Cryptocorynes are probably the best bet, and there are a wide variety of very hardy ones in the trade:

C. cordata var. blassii
C. moehlmannii
C. pontederiifolia
C. wendtii 'Tropica', 'Red', 'Green', or 'Mi Oya'

Perhaps C. walkeri and undulata can also be allowed to adapt to these conditions.

No, these won't do - you have to choose the right crypts for the job! And there are loads of specialized blackwater crypt species out there...

For example, I've been keeping C. longicauda submersed for 20 years - it's an easy plant if you offer decent blackwater conditions.
